Many babies are born with body tension or asymmetrical body/head positions. All babies need time and some help to "unwind" after birth. Bodywork is especially important for babies with oral tension and possible ties, torticollis, and other body tension/asymmetry.
Remember, the whole body is connected. By focusing on one area of the body through bodywork, we can positively impact other parts of the body. This holistic approach can improve latch, make breastfeeding enjoyable, help with fussiness, reflexes, colics, improve sleep, and diaper output.
Research shows that infant bodywork can have many benefits for preterm infants, including weight gain, neurodevelopment, and feeding tolerance.
